New Year, New ME

5 BIGGEST NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTION MISTAKES

  1. GOALS WITH NO ACTION STEPS

A goal with no actions is just a dream. In order to achieve your goals you have to set action steps to achieving your goal. Set daily, weekly, monthly, and even yearly actions steps that help you get closer to your goal. Rome was not built in a day, and it sure wasn’t built with just a goal or dream. Setting an action plan focused on getting you closer to your goal each and every day is vital for success, in anything you do in life!

  1. CHANGING TOO MANY THINGS TOO SOON

If your goal is to truly change your lifestyle habits, fitness, health, food, smoking, drinking, etc… then you can’t change too many things all at once. Focusing on changing one thing and turning those things into a part of your lifestyle is going to be much more efficient verses changing 10 things at once only to fail at all 10. For example, if your diet is filled with fast food, sugar and soda, you can’t expect to go to 100% clean eating diet in one day and truly change your lifestyle. Eventually you’ll fall back into your old ways. A great way is to slowly adjust small things, such as stop drinking soda for a week or two first before cutting out fast food. Then start cutting back on sugar. Before you know it, you’ll have changed your lifestyle and daily habits.

  1. UNREALISTIC GOALS/EXPECTIONS

Setting realist goals and expectations is very important as if you set unrealistic goals and you don’t reach them it can lead to a loss of motivation in many people. If you set a goal of losing 50 pounds in a month and you lose 10 you’ll be unhappy, but in reality, losing 10 pounds in a month is actually amazing and you should be proud and motivated to keep going. Setting the right goals early is KEY!

  1. LACK OF CONSISTENCY

CONSISTENCY IS EVERYTHING!! Rain or shine, you must keep going. We all fall of track occasionally, and that is ok, but make sure you get back to it, even if you don’t feel like it. Which leads to our last key point…

  1. DISICPLINE > MOTIVATION

So many people are motivation driven. They work hard when motivated, when they feel good, or things are going well. But the true test is when you DON’T feel like doing something, when you’re not motivated, when you really don’t want to do it…. But you have to have the DISCIPLINE to do it anyway is when you will truly achieve success. We can all do great things when everything is going great, but when things are not going our way is when we are truly tested. That is when the greatness shines from within us. So, focus on staying disciplined and don’t always look for the quick fix of motivation. Stay the course, work hard, and ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS!
